...the door to the Horse and Cart is opened by a weary looking traveller enters. His patched and worn armour is spotted with the occaisional mark of rust or battle scar. Closing the door behind him, he places he unsheathes his swords and places them at the door, the sleepy boy at the bar raises an eyebrow and grunts incoherently about serving himself, before retreating once more into slumber.
Nathaniel labourously hauls himself across the bar floor to pick up a bottle of wine leaning against the wall, leaving a a shining silver penny in his wake. Retreating to the corner he usually occupies he uncorks the bottle with his belt knife and takes a long draught from it. His face appears pensive, as though a dark cloud has passed over it, and his eyes burn in the darkness, a flickering flame of anger within their normally joyous gaze. _________________ Chivalry Warwick

In the early hours of the morning, there is the clatter of hooves as a horse stamps to a halt outside the tavern. A shout for assistance rings out, waking the boy at the bar briefly before he settles down again. For a few moments there is quiet except for the quiet whinnying of a horse. Then the sounds of it being led to the stables.
After another long moment passes, the door opens and a cloaked George slips in, running to hide from the morning cold in front of the dying embers of the fire. He stokes them up, adding from the woodpile next to it. Within moments it is burning brightly again and he soon sheds his cloak, folding it up to place on a chair as a cushion.
He settles down for a moment, only now beginning to take in th surroundings. On seeing Nathaniel's form he starts. Nathaniel is too far in shadow to see his pensivity and, not wanting to leave the comfort of the fire he simply calls across the near empty room, eliciting a snort from the boy at the bar as he does.
Nathaniel! How do things go? Come and have a seat by the fire old friend. |
