For I am mad!
In January, on the second weekend, I am hoping to run a small invite weekend.
The venue will be a small, very basic cottage out in the peak district, a veritable mile from any human habitats and surrounded by forests, hills and valleys. There are 20 bunk spaces and some very limited floor space.
As well as hoping for a few players or so who will amble along, if anyone is up for semi-dedicated monstering, I'm looking for four or so people who can help run things with me.
I think for prices, it will be £20 for players and £12 for monsters (Mostly paying for accomodation and a banquet).
More information to come, but are there people interested? |

If it goes ahead...
Barry has kindly allowed Derby to be the nominal branch hosting it. |

Simon, be fair, they are resonable questions. I'm sure that none of us would want to see an event run under the Fools and Heroes banner only to find out that they aren't covered by insurance because the formalitises weren't observed.
It does sound like an interesting event, it's a shame that I can't make it. BC were on about something similar last year, but it fell though. But there will always be a next time _________________ Jessica of Darian

The basic question is... do we want to encourage people to get involved in running events or discourage them.
I felt that the tone of this thread was a discouraging one. And I was not happy with that. (But as I posted afterwards....who the hell listens to me!)
In my experience people start out out with good intensions only to be worn down over time and become uninclined to repeat the stress and hassle.
Therefore if someone has the keeness to go for this, then I am happy for them..
Who are the "official" refs and "insurance" are, for me, items down the list.
In the past we (Derby Branch) couldn't run a "fest" so we ran "invite weekends" and they were a great success (dispite grumblings from some quarters)
PS this does not reflect any choice of myself to attend this event or not! |

Answer: We want to encourage them and encourage them to run things correctly. They don't exclude each other.

It's a shame you saw it that way. I didn't. I read it as someone who might have been interested but was checking on things. This was, after all, posted on a couple of local boards and not the national. Nor is there any paperwork to book like in any fest, but it is similar to fest/invite prices that are to be paid. Being sure about things is only natural.

I know. I'm currently there. I haven't got the energy to run a RoD like I have in the past. I'm sure I'll get that back at some point though. For referance, when I run a RoD I always ask for a ref to run it (weither the premises for the RoD is mone for not) before I offer to host it. In addition I've only ever asked for contributions to food and usually end up with a significat loss... hense not doing food for them any more.

For an organiser, it shouldn't be. Not in the world we live in at the moment.

Nor me. I just can't get. Like I've already said: I like the idea of it, but I won't have the time. _________________
