A Declaration
from the
Office of the
Earl Androplies
De Savona
Concerning
Taxes
In this time of
War
To facilitate the raising of a standing army to counter the threat posed to the Duchy by Earl Artus, I hearby declare a war tax of three pennies a month, or goods to the value of such, per person, for the duration of this emergancy.
Each noble and vassal is tasked to collect the tax from their tennant, and may charge an extra two penny tax to pay for costs incurred by collection.
All Freemen who live in the Duchy are charged to pay this tax directly to my Office, tax collectors will be assigned in each town to facilitate this payment.
Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
Signed
Earl Androplies De Savona
(ooc: This includes Derby Characters, If you adventure in any given month you should pay the Tax.) |

How on Ithron are we to recognise these official "tax collectors"? Anybody could stoop to impersonate one of these (no doubt) HuMans and steal our hard earned monies. Not to mention the activities of various money grabbing bandits around the area.
Would it not be safer to pay these tithes directly to an secure office where we can get a receipt? It's bad enough having to pay once, let alone pay again because some inefficient HuMan has "lost" the payment. _________________ Lord Kyrissulean, Father to Maple

I don't think I have to pay now - I'm not a freeman, I'm an outlaw. _________________ Lady Genevieve Hart

And I've just moved here too! Ah well thats the Lady's way sometimes - praise be to Tralda!
Can I ask is this tax going to have any effect on buisnesses at all? Or is it simply being leved on the indvidual? _________________ Jula the Raveneye

'ere its a fix is what it is! Tha' tax was levied to pay for the war with them blasted elves, a war we won mind! But since then tha' Earldom has gone reet to pot, 'alf the nobles who are meant to raise forces with tha' money have died, either by evil types or executed because they were yon evil types.
Tae be fair though, tha' also means tha' theirs less tax collectors around who can actually collect it!
