Dear Adventurers of Derwentshire,

Lawrence Telby and I will be leading a mission to find the Monastery of the White rose, to return the relics within back to Disciples of Bohemund. We believe one of relics will be able to finally cure Baron Hardwick. His condition has worsened and without drastic action he will not survive the next spring.

Keep in mind, this mission will be to a Vleyborian place of pilgrimage. The path will be dangerous and it is difficult to say what we might face. I will put what information I have gathered below.

We will be leaving on the fourth weekend from Ashbourne. Please make yourselves known if you plan on coming along. I will also put a fund together if we want to stock up on any alchemy.

The information gathered.

After speaking with some historians in Ashbourne. I found out that before the first Axirian invasion, the Wildlands to the north west of Ashbourn used to be called the Barony of Bartons. Several hectares of land to the north were granted to the Church in the year 457. After the invasion the noble lineage of Barton was wiped out, Axir placed the government of the lands under the rule of a Steward. By the third invasion the church had build the monastery of the White Rose.

The Saint.
The girl Asha of Twinford was a lowly priestess in service to the White Lady during the third Axirian invasion, before the town of Ashbourne ever came to exist. After the Axirians conquered Derwentshire, there were various rebellions and uprisings against their rule, one of the most famous being the Ten Penny Lords, a selection of Ithronian nobles who refused to pay taxes during a particularly hard winter, so that their peasantry would not starve. These lords, their vassals and foot soldiers were eventually captured, subdued and as a punishment crucified along the road through the Great Barrier from Darian to Sintel. Crucifixion being a long and lingering death, the Provost of the county forbade any subject to offer mercy or succour to the rebels. Alone Asha would creep out at night from the monastery, to offer water and bread soaked in wine to the men and women suffering this horrific fate. Often taking a bucket filled from the holy font to bathe their inflames and sunburnt flesh. Understanding that even though they were doomed to die, their suffering should be alleviated as much as it could be. On the fourth night, she was caught by a patrol of legionaries examining the captives. Her trial was swift, and shorty afterwards she numbered amongst those crucified along the road. Upon discovering this the Abbott whose name is forgotten now by history, argued with the Axirian authorities, citing blasphemy and heresy for their cruelty, until he was blue in the face. Instead, the Abbott and his clergy from the chapel of Darian held a vigil upon the roadside for two days and three nights, until Asha passed to the Halls of Kharach. Taking down her body reverently, she was returned to the Darian chapel and burnt, her ashes interned and her name catalogued as a saint.

The tears of St Asha.
Over time legends and rumours began to surface, that the ashes possessed mystical and holy powers, that the tiniest pinch would be able to cure the most virulent of afflictions. This is what I will be looking for.

Monastry of The White Rose.
The tears of Asha were taken here and become a place for pilgrimage, and learning dedicated to the healing arts. I have a map which should get us there. It lies at the top of a valley, on the north western edge of the old barony of Barton. It is reached by a long and treacherous path which skirts the valleys sides, this was a defence in itself and designed to protect the monastery from attack,

More Recently.
About 130 years age the monastery was overrun by foulspawn tribes from the White Peaks, Barton Upon the Wyke was destroyed and the remnants of the Barony crumbled into the Wildlands that they are today

There are rumours that the foulspawn tribes were in thrall of a great and powerful demon, to which they offered their fealty and loyalty. Other rumours also persist that the last Steward of Barton who was herself a demonologist, angered a creature of Sharda and it was the creatures machinations which lead to the foulspawn horde rising in the wilds.
