Isilwen! *waves with something fast approaching relief* I haven't seen you for AGES.

It may have been an interrogative to determine what you knew. Or perhaps just an attempt to make idle tavern conversation....

It does seem quite surprising that a large and organised number of Ithronian Knights are unable to hold their own against creatures they consider to be "foulspawn". Especially as they were there as a peacekeeping force supposedly to prevent trouble.

Still, it could be argued that I am but a humble mage and know little of these military matters.

*jumps slightly at Crystal's voice*

Oh! Mae govannen Crystal, how are you? You are right, we have not seen each other since Nerese.

*spots Kyris*

Suilad Atar'nin. It is not often I see you in a tavern. *smiles*

*To Kyris*

Someone could argue that I suppose sir if they wanted to. But having been battered by a vargahai for a while I'd say that if you're too arrogant about dealing with them you could easily come a cropper and most Griffins think they're invulnerable.

*To Isilwen*
And not much then, you should have joined us out by the circle, we were having a picnic.

*Rises and walks over to his daughter. He hugs her with paternal care*

Are you well Tinu'nin? It is pleasing to see you again so soon. Generally I find taverns like this to be less than hospitable places, but they do have their uses when one wishes to observe events.

*hugs Kyris back*

I am fine thank you father. It's good to see you too. How are you?

I quite like taverns, I get to meet my friends socially, rather than always in battle.

*blushes faintly, seems to be remembering an embarrassing incident*

*to Crystal*

I suppose we didn't see a lot of each other. I wondered where you were. So you were watching out for Wamba up at the circle?

*grins* Only by default because it was a nice place for Hope, Skut, my guidanese friend and I to have a picnic. But I patched him up the night he was the Amazing Exploding Mage.

*Foj wanders in and looks around carefully. Then moves over to the bar. She looks very tiered and is not wearing her hood, robes or either of the two prayer scarves she has been wearing. Her normally bright white dress has a fair amount of brown patches on it. She waits patiently for the bar mans attention before speaking to him.*

Excuse me sir, are there any messages for a Miss Foj or Nimbrethil? Or any other letters that havnt found a home that have been sealed with the symbol of the Order of the Temple i might take a look at the wrapping of?

*her face is neither happy nor sad, she just seems... serious and not in any hurry*

Well I'm sure he was glad to have you there then!

We really should adventure together soon, are you going to be at the hiring at the end of the month?

*watches Foj come in, lets her finish speaking to the barman then calls over to her*

Mae govannen Foj... or do you prefer Sareathel Estelle Nimbrethil now?

Mae govannen, mellon nin.

*these words seem to be spoken in an almost awkward way, as though Foj is making a joke and she sounds like shes in a hurry now, as though she was jolted awake.*

On that thought i've realised that i've been spelling and prounouncing that wrong. It should be *takes a sarcastic breath* Sarethealestellenenharma I believe. The Nimbrethil part is a gift given to me by Lady Juniper. I have been asking my friends to call me that recently, apparently it suits me more.

How are you anyway? I take it you have heard what happened to the Griffins? Such a sad sight, and a horrendous loss. I suppose by your notice it means that you have managed to smoothe something over with the King?

(ooc - nimbrethil is elven for silver berch. the other names are peace, hope and lucky, apparently.)

Well, that is rather a mouthful, and I thought I had a complicated name!

*shoots an affectionate look and a small smile at Kyris*

If you wish to be Nimbrethil, Nimbrethil you shall be. Whilst not as tall as the tree that bears that name, you are certainly as slender, pale and pretty.
*smiles, with the air of a big sister*

I am alright. Yes I heard about the Griffins. I have not managed to see the king yet, I should be going with Chief Justice Hart soon. My notice was because High Councillor Ar'Varok asked me to offer them aid, such a disaster requires any help that can be given.

*smiles weakly but with a lot of effort at the sentance about the name* Thank you.

I understand, that is where i have just come from... *motions to her dress* The Griffins i mean, not the Chief Justice. I have given them everything i can give them from my Lady today and now i must write to the Knight Commander to let him know i'm leaving for Lirron. He has requested I go up there because theres some adventuring things going on and healing and stuff.

*Foj frowns in the way she does when she lies to stop people fighting or killing things*

Anyway, its good that the councillor has offered aid. Then all sides of this complicated missunderstanding can see that each is not how it is percieved.

Perhaps fortune has smiled on events in Derwentshire. Who would have thought that such an unlikely series of events would have transpired that allowed the forces of Eldenshay to offer support to the Knightly Order that once sought to defend them?

Anything that can defeat a fully armoured, equipped and trained Knight must be a true sight to behold. I can only assume that these creatures must have grown in strength and cunning in the last two Moons. Surely they cannot be the from the same tribe whose champion I managed to best in single combat with a staff and a knife?

It is to be hoped that the Order now honourably leave the area lest any further mishaps befall them.

*speaking aloud as though in reply but not looking at anyone inparticular*

It is odd that the strong seem to be in danger and the weak relatively safe...

Is something buring?

Anyone who thinks they're invulnerable is open to getting a nasty shock but I think the key to fighting a vargahai would be to not let them hit you cause there's nothing like being sent flying to disorientate a person. Griffins are used to standing and getting pounded on, I imagine that you were probably harder to hit.

And I doubt they'll leave now, it would be something of a blow to the perception of them if they were seen to be running away now, it would be just like a Crowan to stand somewhere obvious and bleed so that other people don't have to. If the Griffins leave then the vargahai will seek different strong people in the area while they look for their Great Killer and I don't think the order would want that.
