On the very eastern edge of Tesrae

Stands one small, mostly ruined stone building. A brightly coloured tarpaulin has been stretched across the absent roof and someone has outlined a pattern that largely features roses in whitewash on its walls. A crooked, badly made wooden sign outside simply says "Captain Fleetfoot - if I'm not here I'm somewhere else so send me a pigeon".
Inside the confines of the three remaining walls stands a small brightly patchworked tent.

As the morning wears on, Crystal can be seen moving around the house sketching out more of the designs onto the rough stone surface, dividing the walls into sections as though the cottage were a panelled gypsy caravan. All the while singing happily.

*Pedhaeron the local herald arrives. With a curious glance he appraises the new no-mans land between the Tesrae border and the Eldenshay checkpoint. Then with visible delight at the singing he approaches Crystal and hands her a sealed scroll, then leaves with a cheery wave...*

*A figure arrives in the dead of night carrying a large bundle of stout wood teetering on his back. He stops and stares at the tarpaulin covered ruin, his eyes glittering in the gloom, and spying the scrawled sign the glitter of fangs appear as he smiles briefly*

Skûtûrztûzantar-izg. Gaakh narmok lat-krut.

*Vau places the wood down and draws his short broad-bladed cleaver. Sitting on a nearby collapsed wall he, with strong blows, starts to whittle stakes with an almost cheerful air*

*After arranging the stakes in a staggard defensive perimeter, then spending many hours dragging over stones from other ruins to reinforce the walls Vau finally seems satisfied. As the early light of another dawn breaks over Tesrae he collects his armour and weapons and sets off at a comfortable lope southwards...*

Crystal wanders over to her small ruin, now much more intimidating and yet absurd-looking. The orcish fortifications very much at odds with her own brightly-coloured additions. Smiling at something amusing only she knows of, Crystal opens a large sackcloth bag and from it starts to remove lengths of brightly coloured ribbon and cloth, then bells, tin coins and bits of glass.

Considering the stakes and her ruin again, she gives one of the stakes an exploratory kick, noting how it doesn't even wobble. A fond smile on her face, she sets about draping the fortifications with the odds and ends from her bag, voice carrying on the wind as she sings "the happy isle" an elven song her grandmother taught her.

*Vau arrives out of the night again, laden with logs and packs containing blocks of peat. He hauls the weight over to the outbuilding and starts to place the fuel inside...*

*shrugs* I'm trying not to be silly. I know there is absolutely no reason for me to be afraid of going down into the well, no matter it is enclosed and damp... but plucking up the courage is taking the time. It seems so silly to be scared of only one thing and for the fear to make no sense...

hmm... does that count as needing help?

Strangely, if something weird happens while I'm down in a well not five feet from my own house one feels something has gone very wrong with the world. But it's always nice knowing you have friends around when you're feeling scared, ha, just the thought of going down there is making me quivery. This is so silly.

Then your grandfather has proven my point that you can't be foulspawn because you know what fear is. *hurries on to a new subject* I don't really want to bother Her just because I'm jittery, as I understand it She has enough worries in Elysium without some silly half-breed who can't hold her nerve when it actually gets tested. I'll say thank you, but I wouldn't want to bother any of Them without good cause.
