Fin and Bambi's house.

Fin and Bambi's cottage stands squat, slightly misshapen but quite homely. It's obvious it's had some work done on it by inexperienced hands, but it's been done with love and care, crooked cut wood and fences and all.

A small plot lies de-weeded next to it as if waiting for something to be planted and a kitten is often seen playing around the building.
A sign is stuck outside the house with the words "Arafin and Indis Nenharma" daubed on it. A little picture of what looks like a rabbit has been carefully drawn underneath.

A loud scream rips from the house and Fin bursts out of it setting roosting birds shooting up into the sky screeching angrily at having their sleep disturbed.

His face looks horrified, his hair is wild, whipping around his face. He paces outside the house for a few seconds, panting for breath, before he looks at the letter clutched in his hand again.

"No... not it can't..."

He sank to his knees, screaming into the night again. "No... No no no no NO!" he sobbed...

"Sister..."

*Bambi comes running out after him*

"Melamin....don't go away...you ok?...Praisebetokharach"

*she sinks down next to him and hugs him tightly*

Fin says nothing, just allows himself to be held by Bambi.

"My sister... Saretheal...." the letter flutters in the evening breeze. "She's..." he mouthed another name silently in Elven.
"You can't say... Don't... her name..."

He screams into the night again, bitter angry tears flowing down his cheeks, holding onto Bambi's arm as if it was the only real thing left in the world.

*holds him closer and strokes his hair comfortingly, silent tears rolling down her cheeks*

"Shes....gone? Is she with her lady, melamin?"

*She kisses him softly on his forehead*

"Melamin...I'm sorry. I haven't been here for you the last few weeks. I don't know quite where I was, but its you who matters most of all. I love you so much. I need to be here, and to focus on you, and put whats past where it belongs. Thank you for always being there.*

*She hugs him tighter, and kisses him again*

"I'm going to miss her too, melamin. One day you will be together again. How are you? Do you want to talk about it?"

"Alina... she says she's lost... She was left... THEY LEFT HER..." he shouted the last words hoarsely gripping Bambi's arm tightly.

"I..." he choked through a sob, "... I only just... we only just found each other again.. family... real family... and now she..."

"I've been so busy lately... I've barely spoken to her... We never... all those talks we never had... We should...

"I should have been there... or stopped her going or..." he coughed, choking on it through the tears.

He muttered a name in Elvish inaudible even to Bambi sat how she was, over and over again, as if saying it could bring her back.

*She buries her face in his hair, hot angry but quiet tears still streaming down her cheeks*

"Melamin. You can't have regrets, be happy you found each other when you did, and if you were there, you may have been lost too. And I don't think you'd have been able to get her to not go."

*pause*

"Do you want to go inside?"

"Sit here..."

He held her as close as he could, tears streaking down his face, a sob occasionally escaping his lips.

They sit there for a couple of hours, occasionally murmuring words back and forth to each other before returning inside towards dawn.

Fin doesn't look up as Straw approaches, but stays sat outside the cottage, leaning against the fence staring at the earth, his face stained and streaked with tears.

A couple of letters are by his side, one in particular looks like it it has been screwed up and straightened out at least once.

*Indis walks up behind him, a cup of tea in her hand. She puts an arm around him and squeezes his shoulder, kissing his neck delicately. She hands him the cup of tea.*

"Melamin, you've been out here all day. You've barely spoken or slept. Please. Come inside?"

Fin jumped slightly at Bambi's touch and voice, looking up at her before resuming his vigil of the ground.

"How can I... "

A rattling sigh escaped his lips and he sniffed. "I should have been there Indis... I could have helped... I might have been able to save her...

He balled up a fist, his head bowed low. "How could they just leave her? Why didn't they go back for her..." he said, fighting back a sob.

"And now I'm stuck... I don't know what to do... and the only damn person who might be able to get us back there won't read my damn mail." he picked up the crumpled letter and threw it at the ground. "He organised this trip... Damnit..."

*She moves to sit in front of him, she holds his hand.*

"She...you" *she pauses to think for a second, and wipes tears from his cheeks, bringing his chin up to look into his eyes*

"Alina tried to go back in for her. She couldn't get there. They didn't intentionally leave her, and a lot of us want to go and get her back"

*a tear rolls down her cheek and she wipes it away*

"She knew more about the lands than both of us combined and she knew it was a dangerous place to go. Whats stuck?"

*thinking for a while*

"Would you like me to talk to him? What does the letter say?"

"I'm stuck because I don't know how to get there, I don't know how to find her... I don't..." he sighed heavily and leaned back against the fence, wordlessly holding up the letter he had written.

"I was probably wrong to blame him but..." he said a few seconds after she had read it. "I... he was..."

He let out a sob and wrapped his arms around her waist, leaning his head on her shoulders, crying quietly.

"She knew it was dangerous. She had free will, and none of us could have stopped her going. Please, please think about it, don't do anything too hastily."
