*After the un-necessary clattering of various pots and pans there is the pleasant aroma of stew begining to drift through the air*

*Straw is found sat outside the kitchen with her feet up on a small stool, sipping on tea and looking a little on the peeved side*

*Mumbles of "Great Provider" can be heard, mixed in with "Bloody Demons"*

*George rides up to the farm at full gallop, shouting as he approaches*

*Straw runs out, ready for whatever is going wrong...*

Oh... Geogre, how are you?

If you are wanting to set fire to something then I'm sure I can find you something constructive. Otherwise... no fire lighting!

Now get down off that beast and have some tea, you frightened the whits out of me.

As the echoes of George's shout die away there is a scraping sound, and a stream of slates, dislodged by the shout, pour from the roof and hit the ground with a long drawn out crash finally ending in a comedically appropriate tinkle of shattered slate after the cacaphony has died away....

*Leaps off the horse then onto Straw, giving her an enormous hug*

Good to see you too Straw.

*Hears the slates and winces then turns back to Straw, hoping that by ignoring them, they'll go away*

I brought you a cake, here...

*Withdraws a spherical object from the saddlebag*

*Give a small scream at being man handled*

*After being put down she turns in time to see the last tile smash to the ground.*

*Raising an eye brow she beacons George inside*

Come on. Before you break something else...

Dont worry Miss Straw, in a few weeks I'll have nailed a spell that'll repair it in a trice.

*Turns to follow Straw. As he does, he stumbles slightly, but then picks himself up again*

I'll find a plate and carve you a slice of cake. I brought one for Isilwen too, though I didn't see her at the manor.

Anyway, how have things been since I was last here? Mistress Isilwen's letters have seemed somewhat less than happy shaped.

There have been a few problems that we've been working on.

She's said to me just yesterday that you were doing well, but that you'd had a bad few months.

What sort of cake have your brought? Should I make something other than tea to go with it?

Well its called a Yule pudding, though I think of it as a cake.

Theres a lot of fruit, nuts and brandy in it. From what I understand, the tradition is to cover them with more brandy when its served, then light it.

*Produces a small bottle and a scroll*

Not done one before, but I think I know what to do.

Umm... I don't think that I've ever tried one of those. Thank you George. This is a special occasion. Perhaps we should wait for others to join us?

Alrighty. In fact, I'll go and ride to Crystal's house. I said I'd visit her, I'll invite her over.

Now, if its the one I'm thinking of, I should know the way...But if I'm gone for several hours, I'll probably have gotten lost.

*There is the thud of someone dismounting somewhat gracelessly and Crystal leads the horse into the front of the farm and tethers it to a post*

Ash burz, azub-izg lat? That's not really a very friendly greeting is it? But then I suppose "hello" is fairly neutral... ash burz azub-izg lat...

It show of strength *growl* amongst uruk. There is no beauty *rrrrr* in pukhluruk.

*Vau hefts a large dead boar over to the outside of the farm, he finds somewhere appropriate and lays the corpse down, and draws a finely carved Neresian hooked dagger.*

Well you seemed to manage well enough with it at the banquet in Mercia. I'm sure George can find Mistress Fibbleweed to ensure she hasn't wasted away in his absence... I'm sure she'll be pleased with the pig though since Isilwen said that they might be a little short of food this winter...
