From the late afternoon sun...

A figure swathed in black wanders into the chapel, taking her time.
She kneels by the shrine and places a bunch of fresh cut blood-red flowers on the shrine. As she kneels, with some difficulty, a spill of pale blonde hair falls forward out of her hood. She winces, and places a hand on the significant bump at her stomach. Allowing her hood to slip back, revealing her face pale and masked, she closes her eyes and sits very still. After a while, her lips move, softly. Only someone within inches of her could hear her whispered prayer.

After a while, her eyes open. There is a serenity in her grave expression.
She struggles to stand, with as much grace as she can gather, and dusts down her simple cotton dress.
She bows towards the shrine, turns, and walks out into the warm evening sun with a sense of renewed purpose in her step.
The perfume of the flowers is all that is left in her wake.

Later on, Sam enters the Chapel. Kneeling at the Shrine, he notices the flowers. Breathing their scent in deeply, he finishes praying, stands and bows towards the Shrine.

"Integra" he whispers. A shaft of sunlight illuminates one side of his face, which has a strange expression, mingling concern and nervousness.
