*Crystal's Ruin*

*Crystal and Vau come through Tesrae to the rather forlorn-looking ruin, most of the ribbons and bells are no longer attached to the orcish fortification and those that remain look damp and dull. Crystal's right arm is slung uselessly in her Tesrae militia sash but she looks cheerful.*

[Vau]

*Vau looks across the ruin with a deep look of consideration in his eyes, almost as if considering it a metaphor for life. Then he looks around at Crystal's smile and seems to square his shoulders somewhat.*

Amal tal slaium tal .......

*Vau stops himself as if searching for a word and failing... Instead he looks down at himself stained with mud from the travelling and the rust like pattern of bloodstains mixed with the black stains of his own blood. He goes to the well and draws a bucket of water and dumps it over his own head, snarling at the shock of the frigid water that does only a little in washing the stains clear*

*Crystal watches Vau with her head on one side*

I think "hope" is the way to finish that sentence. *she wanders over to the empty fire and manages to scrape it out with very little difficulty with her one remaining hand and then she builds it up again before picking up her flint and steel before looking at her useless arm in frustration*

You'll probably want the warmth after dowsing yourself in that water. It's always cold, probably cause it's in shadow from any sun down there.

*Vau dumps several more buckets over his head in an attempt to get partially clean.*

Hope... *growl* that was it... word not exist in pukhluruk I think. Not think it *rrrrr* feeling that come natural to my kind.

*Vau dumps one more bucket over his head wincing at the pain of the icy chill. He turns to see Crystal's difficulty and comes over dripping and shivering, clothing plastered to his body and long hair hanging straight and wet. Reaching down he holds the steel so she can strike the flint.*

*Rather awkwardly Crystal tries to strike the flint against the steel, before she sighs and holds the lump of stone out to Vau in silent surrender*

I use my right hand for doing anything with finesse Vau, you should have seen me trying to eat with only one hand. Would you mind helping me please? Do you want a cloak or something Vau, so you don't freeze?

I like to think hope is there for everyone, even if they don't notice when it's there. You have to notice something to name it.

*Despite trembling hands Vau manages to get a strike after a few blows, setting the tinder smouldering.*

g-Guess that *grshudder* why k-krank named fiimum k-kranklûb "Hope".

*Vau leaves the smoking tinder and goes back to the well shiverring.*

*Crystal sighs with a half smile and coaxes the fire alight, grinning to herself. She stands and picks up her thick green travelling cloak, strolling over to Vau by the well she sits on its low wall*

*Vau shakes his head violently, accidently spraying water over Crystal. Then looks down at his clothes and hide, now reasonably clean of dirt and blood, and nods to Crystal*

*Crystal wipes the water off her face and hair with her cloak, then drops it clumsily around Vau's shoulders, holding it in place with her arm around his shoulder*

I got it a bit wet already and more wet won't do it any harm, it'll dry out without harm. But being cold is uncomfortable for living things and it makes me cold watching you shiver.

*Vau places his hand over Crystal's as he allows himself to be guided back toward the growing fire, appreciating both the cloak and her embrace. Sitting there his shivers slowly lessening as the damp clothes start to dry.*

*Crystal sits back down by the fire*

Almost dying probably didn't help her much either, she said you hugged her a lot after I left. I daresay she needed it. And I can't blame her for wanting to wish harm on those who killed someone she loves, I'd certainly want to break some heads if someone had killed someone I loved.

Seems strange to me that "az" is both an ending to words and that it also means kill.

See, possibly it's because I don't speak orcish properly yet, but sometimes it confuses me.

*Crystal looks oddly serious*

Alina's husband was a nice person who didn't deserve to be murdered and much as I hold a certain amount of distaste for the Mithimese man whoever made him do it is a coward because they couldn't even commit the murder themselves. It's disgusting.

*Crystal rests her head on Vau's shoulder thoughtfully*

It concerns me as well, but I do hope you wouldn't do anything... hasty.

Well I hope it never comes up, because it would rather spoil my plans to see all of Arda and I don't want you upset. There are a lot of people who don't want to see you upset.

And if the worst did happen well... we'd see each other in Elysium eventually and as I understand it the soul spends a long time there, so it wouldn't be that big of a loss in the long view.
