...for those adventurers who pass through the warm common room of the Horse and Cart, it is apparent that due to the cold weather many have been driven to seek comfort and warmth within its stout walls. This surge of humanity however has brought a burbling hubbub of conversations and rumours which anyone listening as they await their drink to be served will likely hear.

"This snap of cold weather, tis unnatural it is I say! I've just arrived from Newmarket and its even worse o'er that way, I tells you the streets are almost buried in snow and there's naught but the howling of wolves at night to be heard over that grim place. I swear on my way here I even saw some nutter half-naked despite the weather watching my wagon from the treeline, I bet he must have frozen to death." - Duncan Fletcher, Tinker.

"I simply cannot believe the lax nature in the northern parts of this county, I tell you now that no work at all has been performed upon the Stoneybridge its still riddled with holes. It took my teamsman an entire day to get the oxen across without losing any of the beasts, and we had to fish one man out of the river when the parapet he was leaning upon collapsed!" - Frederick Naylor, Oaken Wheel Team Master.

"Don't let anyone else be telling you differently, those men of McRorys may be Lirrionese but they damn well know their job. Straight, bloody violence. Truth be told I'm glad the Baron, long may he live, has gotten involved in protecting the Ashbourne trading ways. It makes my job all much the easier. I'm thanking my lucky stars that the Countess is to pre-occupied with Stappeford to send us into that wilderness." - Private Henry Reynold - Silverton Scouting Corps.

"You know what mate? I absolutely hate the bloody living dead. Scare the absolute sh*t out of me they do, and they don't stay dead for long, even if you can stand getting close enough to them to heck them down. I even hate walking down the backstreets of Darian, despite what the adventurers did for us cleansing that fell city. I've heard rumours that some of the blood sucking fiends still lurk in the catacombs beneath the city, and come out at night to feed. What? Paranoid you say I am? Well that paranoia has kept me alive all these years! Never ever follow a bear into a cave for one! I took one look at those clouds over the Fengate marshes and thought sod that route for a game of soldiers. Oh aye, I've heard rumours of the militia reports in that area. I feel sorry for the poor blighters in Fengate itself. Actually, no, wait I don't. Sod the degenerate lot of them!" - Trent Cunningham - Trapper

"T'ain't natural says I! Old Hob tells ye its true, saw it with me own eyes! A drow elf I says, a drow it were and if ye seen a drow you know it to be a drow. Me an' Snorter were searchin' for truffles out west from the Drakheart an' we saw him, bold as brass, watchin' us from a tree. Crossbow in hand, quarrel lookin' me straight between the eyes. An did he shoot? Nah, he just laughed and disappeared into the snow! What? You think I'm lyin'? Well thats what you get for bein' drunk you louts! Now pass me another whiskey!!!" - Old Hob - Truffle Hunter
