Vau returns to the Ruin on the Border of Eldenshay

*His face is troubled as he approaches the ramshackle remains of the building, still subdued and dismal looking as the flower beds slumber through the last of the winter. His feral eyes take in the leaking roof, bowed under the weight of snows and then flicker to the stakes and defences.*

*He hangs a small sack of round objects on one of the defensive stakes and draws his cleaver as he prepares to work on the defences. As he raises it to whittle a stake, he pauses and then glances back to the ruin's roof.*

*Vau buries the cleaver's blade into the stake and departs, returning intermitently over several hours, dragging wood for the roof from the abandoned ruins closest by.*

*Vau tirelessly drags the replacement beams onto the roof and hammers them into place using crude tools, orc-fashion. Tearing away the sagging beams and binding the new ones into place, while nearby a pot of pitchblend bubbles on the fire. There is a sense of urgency in his work as his eyes flicker from task to planning.*

*A figure hooded in black robes approaches the ruin cautiously. A sword is sheathed at her side, faintly glowing. The emblazon of the Tesrae militia is on a flash at her belt. As she approaches, she drops the hood and her hair is bright in the sunlight. Integra approaches Vau smiling.*

*Vau sniffs the air and becomes alert, moments later he swings off the roof with a crash and drops to his face before Integra*

*Vau stands back up and assumes parade ground attention. A mixture of random guilt fighting across his face*

Crystal-az not here, last see her near ... somewhere ... *growl* asked not to say where *rrrrr* or why *snarl* or volunteer information but if Holy Paragon ask *growl* person who cannot name *hrrrr* not as important in eyes of Gods *snarl* so must answer, but ask not to in case person not know *growl* find out what I not know!

*He stops at Integra's expression, and his confusion shifts suddenly to purpose*

She say she go North *rrrrr* to Castle in Tisa Valley, *growl* with Kaalgrisch Geoffrey.

*His cheeks blacken slightly as Vau stares at Integra's chest*

*She looks deeply confused at what he is talking about but seems to decide not to ask. She looks disappointed when he says Crystal is not there.*

"Oh.... I really need to speak to her soon, I would just as soon do it in person... Could you please ask her to let me know when she is next in the area?"

*Vau sets a pot of water on the nearby fire and starts to drop various ingredients and herbs in*

*Vau proceeds to stir the pot, and then his eyes flicker as if reading off some internal list*

*Looks thoughtful* Juxtaposition is a word which means putting something next to something else that does not necessarily go next to it normally. I suppose a decent analogy would be, like putting custard on beef.

Custard on beef? *growl* Not think Sharkû approve. He cook kaalgrisch food well *rrr* teach I. Try to learn but not good as he *snarl* but Crystal-az seem to like.

Try to make *growl* "little" talk. Kaalgrisch always ask if I ill when they see I. *growl* say "How you?" or "You well?" but I not get ill. *rrrrr* been like ill sometime and it bad *snarl* is that why kaalgrisch always asking if still well? Seem to be *growl* important to them, but if I got ill maybe it be important to I too?

*She tries hard not to smile*
When they ask how you are, they are not referring to your physical health, they are referring to your emotions. Humans have very complex emotions, they tend to be feeling a lot of things at once. They still lie when someone asks how they are. It is a courtesy, it has no real meaning, it is making a sound to comfort oneself and fit in with what everyone else is doing. The reply of 'I'm fine' regardless of how you are actually feeling, is equally devoid of meaning. It is something that human society has made up to make themselves into something other than animals.
It amuses me that people regularly conform to these social norms out of habit, and yet will conduct themselves as any predator when faced with a threat.
I say amuses... more of a bitter, empty sensation of despising my own race, really..
Still, to give you an honest answer, I am of good physical health, as is my husband, and that is sufficient to be grateful for that I will not trouble you with my emotional melancholy's, which are still less time-consuming of late than they have been.
