The Golden Tree I believe resides in the western fortifications of Fhaintesrae, about the place that we see "Undead I" on the map above. I think now we may see the reason why Aran'Ar'Varok abandoned the capital to take residence in the outer defences under the eldest tree itself.

Very concerning. A last grasp at power perhaps.

I suggest a feint attack to draw away his forces, then launch a hammer strike at the Mallorn to do what we need to there.

How does that sound as an initial idea?

If it is the crown that allows it to know what is happening within the forest then will a feint work? either it is the movement in the forest or the elves that move within it, we can't hide that elves will be heading toward the Golden Tree.

Though on the other hand it would still loosen some of the hold or it risks loosing more area.

We cannot, but we can at least try to draw some of the notice away.

If we make the feint attack real, straight at his forces, then he is faced with a choice. Stay with his troops and fight the battle, or defend the Mallorn. If he chooses the second option, which I suspect he will, then his troops will be disheartened to see him leave the field, whilst they must fight.

I only present to you these options. Whilst I am willing to advise and aid in decision making, this final choice must be agreed by all.

Sir Marcus

I am currently working on ways through the forest which would not require us to face the forces there.

Also, after interrogating a prisoner gained after Adanost we have discovered that the Barrow is a trap. Set up by a commander to draw away specialist forces and convince the resistance that it is still a source of power.

It is unlikely that a feint will work for two reasons; Ar'Varok seems connected to the forest through the crown or very good intelligence. More importantly, this is his main weakness, the only thing that will make him vulnerable and he knows it. He is more likely to withdraw and defend than he is to leave it. He does not have to leave his forces to defend the tree, they are camped there.

As well as this I have deployed Calimaegil to Tesrae, any outside help there would be helpful.

The idea of the feint is to draw his forces away in a certain direction. He is still covering a large area of ground. If we can force him to defend a certain part, it will mean fewer forces elsewhere for the strike team to slip through.

Useful information on the Barrow. Was this forced from him, or was a miracle of truthtell used? It would concern me that we have received false information from this prisoner, though I am happy to discount that if it can be proven.

Apart from that, I suggest we make our preparations to strike, and launch it, if that is the will of this council.

I have just had a thought.

This mark Ar'Varok left upon me, what if he uses that to locate the party. Could this be possible? I do not know what he did to me, but thought I would voice this concern of mine.

An interesting thought, Sir Knight.

From what you have told me it seems likely that there is some... I am unsure of the word in this language... shared memory?... kaimel- yassen lom... I'm not sure I can clear it further.

What reason do you think he may be able to see through you? Has something happened to make you believe this?

I am not sure. Nothing has happened that has made me believe this, more just a thought currently.

My concern is that I will compromise this mission before it has even begun. The feelings I have had have more been the emotions of the forest, and it's many generations. I am not sure if Ar'Varok can sense me through those.

Then my advise would be to give it the concern it deserves at this time. There is no evidence that this gives anything to the abomination, it only the fear and doubts that have slipped into your heart. This could be by accident or design... until we know more then there is little we can do.

Remember. While it wears the crown, every elf on the mission is a possible threat to you. We DO know that he can compel us, at the very least to our knees. That at the wrong time would not help anyone.

Have you had any further cleansings, with regards to that mark? As i Have said before, if you need help or just to talk then I am always willing.

A question for you; it laid it's hands upon you to give you that mark, correct? Was this before or after the Primate had killed the dark elf wearing the crown? Did it say anything when it touched you?

This should be perhaps discussed else where from this topic of conversation.

Well done.

Much was accomplished today.

Let us not let up, let us continue with a swift attack while it's power base is weakened.

So...
How do we proceed now?

our opponent is still dangerous, so we must still be ready for this.

We are currently removing all the undead that surrounds the forest. Now the hold has been released they are as much a threat to the Elves as to the humans and other races as they move where ever they may go.

The next move is fairly obvious. We remove the tainted one. I'm not saying this is simple, but it's time to start planning how we can do this.

Are there any more significant threats?

I have said before, though I sit on this council I am not a military person. It is entirely possible that there is something I have missed.

I have two questions,

In general, is there anything that we can do to prepare for this conflict ?

In specific, are the undead entirely dispersed or are they still a significant part of the opposing force ? The Silvereye may still have the capability to control some fraction of the previous assemblage.

Grey.

I don't think that we can predict for any of those that use soul fire to control undead. I am unsure if there are any... I hesitate to use the word... significant undead able to control the amounts that have been used against us in the past.

We should not discount the possibility. But given the amount that are falling to the strong arms of our combined forces in the last few weeks I would predict that they are heavily depleted. I shall ask for a more accurate report.
