I'm still unsure if the lepper is the dominus.
But I can tell you he will manifest into the nearest credo he can find.
I'm assuming that black gunk that came out my head is in essence part of him.
As such if he's touched your mind he can control your mind and in essence take full control of you. Especially if you have links to the symbols they use

Something interesting happened to me while we were in battle with Dominus as Drew the Leper. I was wounded and unable to even raise a blade to defend myself as he strode up and I said "Sir, I can do no harm to you" and instead of running me through he simply knocked me unconcious. There may be some kind of rules of 'honour', and I use the term loosely, it is operating by.

What happened to you sounded familiar

From the research that was sent to me.

"Harken to the judgment of High Mother Mildrith of Sidhe, Justice of Derwentshire,

It is both the testimony of witness and defence that the accused, Sir Josef of the family Curzon, Knight Martial of the Griffin Order did refuse a direct order from his Liege-Lord Aefric son of Alfrae, Duke of Middale to quit the field and take his men with him. Sir Josef then did place hands on the person of the Duke and the Duke was heard to exclaim, “thou art beyond my strength to take” and a dark spirit did flee and the Duke did lapse into death.

It hath been observed by expert testimony from the Church of the Blessed Battlemaiden that despite his disobedience the Knight remains in the Lady’s favour. It hath also been observed that the guild of Leechcraft that the flesh of the Duke hath such corruption that it cannot be said whether Iron grip of knight or cold rot of flesh did end the life of the Duke.

Thereby, this court doth find the defendant Sir Josef to still be in regard, and honoured for the expulsion of a fell spirit from the Duke allowing his soul to be passed to peace.

Tenth Day of Budding in the Year of the Pact Eighty One and Seven Hundred."

NB... I am now a resident within the Crowan Abbey. I shall look to see if any survives from that time.

Regards
Father Bracca

How touched does your mind have to be? I got mind controlled by the leper/Dominus, but it may have just been a normal obey spell. I felt compelled to knock everyone out without killing them, but that may have been due to the weapon I was holding at the time.

I'd hazard a guess that you were just under the effects of a mind-control spell. To be under a more permanent control, you would need to have some of the black oil in your brain - similar to a Credo member we examined near Fengate. The oil has a necromantic energy taint, so I would surmise that a ritual has to be carried out?

Mhairi could tell you more, I think.

We don't know how the oil gets in there. Somehow I was infected and I've been very careful.

We believe that I was infected while we were helping another (who is an ungrateful sod) - but we can't tell how it came to me and not any of the others that were there helping as well? Also it got into Chivalry, again, we don't know how.

Is the ungrateful sod the one we did the brain surgery/holy water on? I'm going to guess that you and Chivalry were already infected as you both seemed to have trouble whenever I was bothering it with holy water, but it did far less to me despite being the one offending it and I don't think it affected Tim (who did most of the surgery) at all.

It occurs to me I have seen one other episode of unexplained mass mind control about two years ago, I think before Credo were widespread so could have been an early experiment. I was in a group containing a previous Huntsmaster, and when some McRory militia identified him they started chanting "kill the Huntsmaster" and attacked him in quite a mechanical way while ignoring the rest of us (so were quite easy to stop). When we woke them up, they had no memory of attacking him, and the only opportunity we managed to identify where they might have been controlled was from drinking in the same pub. It was so long ago I can't remember why that was significant as opposed to getting food from the same source, perhaps it wasn't their normal pub or was on the same day.

On the other hand we also came across demons that day, so who knows. It's a little mystery I would love to solve one day.

Thank you to Master Grey for the following

Quote:
Faustus Metellus Drusus was once Pontifex Maximus of Axir (High Prelate)
and a devout follower of Sidhe Justicar (Sidhe in his aspect of Judge and
Lawgiver). His belief was that balance could only be achieved when
everyone was put into their ordained place. Conveniently of course only
those who spoke the will of Sidhe Justicar could judge who a person is and
their proper place in an ordered society.

Drusus became extremely unpopular with the senate and Emperor but his iron
rule and outright intimidation of his political rivals gave him great
power, especially as many tried to use his implacable reputation to their
own advantage and ended up owing him favours or him knowing too many
secrets. His fervent pursuit of heretical cults and demon worshippers also
gave him a strong group of fanatics to rely on and few were willing to make
themselves appear a friend to heretics or demons by opposing him.

Drusus overstretched finally when his orders to make all Temples
acknowledge Sidhe as highest first caused outrage in the clergy and layfolk
of the other religions, and his insistence that Sidhe: Justicar be
venerated above Opitulus, Almus, Ruminus, Frugifer, Farreus, Pecunia,
Dapalis, Epulo or any other aspect, caused major disruption within his own
temple. This "rebellion" and disrespect he put down with the aid of his
personal priests the Flamen Dialis.

Drusus was smart enough to realise that his unpopularity with the plebians
and patricians alike meant that eventually they would move against him, no
matter how much they feared him. So Drusus decided to show the Empire
what was possible with a truly ordered society. He travelled to the newly
conquered edges of the Empire and started to carve out a domain of strict
law and order, travelling regularly between his new domain and Axir by
portal, occasionally bringing important members of the most influential
plebian and patrician families to witness his success.

This gave the assassins hired by his enemies room to strike. Drusus was
held in awe by many, and his Flamen Dialis were ruthless and fearsome, but
above that most Axirians had a healthy fear of the vengeance of the gods
should you raise a hand to their priest. So the assassins did not want to
spill his blood in any fashion. Instead they sabotaged the portal stones
he used for his trip and he stepped into a portal and was never seen again.

I know where he is.

How do we kill or trap him?

Just to throw an idea up in the air, see what people think - perhaps there may be a way to 'bind' his spirit into one of the steel automata? Then he could be destroyed/laid to rest.

I don't know how we'd get his spirit into one of the bodies though - I don't know much at all about portals.

Just to start things off.

It's a good idea, and one that I think I heard Zatherus muttering about as well, so obviously you are heading the same way which could be good. But this is out of my area.

The issue we had last time was when we killed the body, it released the spirit.

However if the spirit cannot leave the body while the body is still alive, would death sleep allow us to hold it prisoner? It may be worth a try the next time we see it. If the spirit is trapped this way, it could remove his direct influence from the Credo? And allow us time to study it for better understanding on how to kill it.

However if it does not trap the spirit. And the spirit leaves for a new host, we could then wake up the old host, and question it. If the host could see what was happening while possessed, he would be aware of much of the workings of the Credo, and their current plans in motion.

Also
I've been told souls can be trapped in gems. I don't know the specifics, or if in this case, since the soul shouldn't be in that body, if doing so is heretical. But is this something a mage can do? Would trapping the soul this way allow it to be held in place then laid to rest?

I don't think they're intrinsically heretical, just the most common use is. This is not the most common use and would be for the purpose of sending it to rather than away from Kharach so I would be surprised if there was general objection from the gods or the law.
