Lands Beyond the River Dawn (AKA. Lands Beyond Dawn AKA. The Lands AKA. Dawn)
The Lands are the place between the Living world and the after life. On death a soul passes to the Lands and starts a walk always downwards towards the Gateway Beyond (Gateway to the halls of the slain) This walk takes a full twenty four hours. All excommunicates cannot pass this Gateway and will spend an eternity walking the lands. Also some loose their way, those who are restless or have some strong connection or need to not pass on. Resurrection will pull a wandering soul from the Lands, Lay to Rest will transport a soul instantly to the Gateway Beyond.
The Lands are the place of the dead and undead, it is always grey and dark, the vegetation is dead or rotting and there is always a smell of decay in the air. The ground is never level, it always slopes downwards towards the Gateway Beyond. The Land is covered with apparently derelict towns, dense woodland and foul swamps. Ancient towers can be seen deep within the forests and jutting out of the mists, which always cover the swamps. Sealed crypts dot the landscape.
Amongst the “peoples” of these lands are powerful and evil overlords (undead necromancers, liches and the like) who control the land and fight amongst themselves and sometimes travel through the Portals to bring their evil to the living world.
The portals are created by multiple deaths in a single place combined with a high use of soulfire (Usually battle old fields) they can be one way or two way portals. Some remain in fixed locations whilst others seem to travel across the landscape. The can only be seen by mages, giving off a shimmering magical aura. |

there is a place I have heard of in the spirit world, called the necropolis, the land of the dead.
here the faithless roam once judged by Sidhe, here powerful undead hold sway, here the faithful cannot walk for fear of offending Kharach.
Does the path of dead run the guantlet of the necropolis then? _________________ Looking at my own reflection,
