Just something I thought was worth mentioning fom a safety point of view..
When I was monstering yesterday, there were several excellent examples of how *not* to use a bow safely.
There were at least a couple of dangerous head/throat shots, as well as the traditional bollock-shots. That wouldn't be as bad, but people were also using more or less full-draw at targets only a few metres away...
I'm no wuss when it comes to taking hard hits, but even I object to a full-draw arrow in the forehead from an archer standing about ten feet away.
Maybe we need a safety refresher....

Not only that, but he was at the game on Sunday too...!
However Throat and Head hits will always occur. I'd like to thank the players who were hit in 'sensitive' locations for keeping calm, and not making a scene.
However Full-Draw at close quaters is unacceptable. If I see it happening I will have a quiet word with the archer.
No one wants to get silly over this. Maybe the branch should hold weapon practise nights so we can all improve our bow / weapon aim? |
